Changes are coming

We want to you to tell you about some exciting changes that will be happening in early 2020 in relation to your housing application. 

Both the Tees Valley Lettings Partnership and Thirteen will be launching a new way of advertising properties and applying for a home across the Tees Valley.

Tees Valley Lettings Partnership

The Tees Valley Lettings Partnership (which includes Darlington Borough Council, Hartlepool Borough Council, Middlesbrough Council, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, Beyond Housing, North Star and Home Group) will launch a new digital lettings platform to replace the existing Compass Choice Based Lettings system.  This will be known as the ‘Tees Valley Home Finder’ and will be implemented alongside a new Common Allocations Policy.  The new Tees Valley Home Finder will also advertise available properties from a variety of other landlords including Thirteen.


Thirteen will be launching the ‘My Thirteen’ digital lettings platform which will allow existing Thirteen customers more access to the services they deliver such as rents, repairs and tenancy management.  They will advertise their vacant properties using this platform alongside a new Lettings Policy and the ‘Tees Valley Home Finder’.

As you already have an application registered on the Compass Choice Based Lettings Scheme, we will automatically move your information over to both ‘My Thirteen’ and ‘Tees Valley Home Finder’.  If you no longer want to be on the housing register, please contact us as soon as possible and we will close your application.

Any customer who is affected by the changes to either of the new policies will be contacted directly to let them know how they will be affected.

Why are these changes happening?

Customers have told us that the current Compass system is no longer fit for purpose.  We have listened and both the Tees Valley Lettings Partnership and Thirteen have agreed that we need something new.  The new Digital Lettings Platforms will be modern and customer friendly and make applying for a home easier and quicker for all customers.

What will happen to my Compass Application?

Unless you tell us otherwise, your current application will automatically move over to both the new ‘Tees Valley Home Finder’ and ‘My Thirteen’ digital lettings platforms.

Will my existing log in details work?

No, but please don’t worry.  We will provide you with new details to access your account and apply for a home before we go live.

Why would my priority for housing be different?

‘Tees Valley Home Finder’ and ‘My Thirteen’ will use different sets of rules for giving priority for housing.  The Tees Valley Lettings Partnership and Thirteen will contact you if you are affected by changes to their Lettings Policies.
