As from the 1st November 2010 you can exchange your property with another social housing tenant living in the Tees Valley

If you are a tenant of one of the Compass Sub Regional CBL Scheme Partners you may apply to exchange your property with another tenant.

  • You will need to complete a mutual exchange application form either online or by your housing officer at your local housing office.
  • Please enter marketing details such as the local amenities or if close to a local bus route to make the most of your advert and make it more appealing to others.
  • You can add a photograph of your property to your application as shown below:

  • After you add your application, your housing officer will need to approve it before it is advertised
  • Once approved, your property will be advertised for 6 months unless you advise us otherwise.
  • If people bid on your property (show that they are interested) you will be able to see a list of their names, contact details, property type and the area that they live in.

***N.B. The person that advertises their property will be able to see contact details of the person that has bid on their property but anyone who bids will not be able to view the contact details of the person that has advertised their property ***

  • You will then need to contact the person that you are interested in exchanging with so that you can view each others properties.   If you are both then happy to proceed, you select that person from the list by ticking the box next to their name.
  • The rest of the process is left to your Landlord and the other tenant's Landlord who will need to conduct their relevant tenancy checks.
  • Please note: you must hold an assured tenancy with a clear rent account and no tenancy breaches to exchange your property.
